Doug and Linda Abner are lifelong residents of Southeastern
Kentucky. They have recently stepped down as Sr. Pastors of
Community Church in Manchester, KY after 25 years.
Doug and Linda are now
Directors of Appalachian Centre for Transformation in Manchester. The ministry is dedicated to bringing hope,
renewal, & Biblical Transformation to cities & regions, not only in
Appalachia but the nation.
In 2003, desperate
people came together to pray for the Lord to intervene in the battle against
the drug problem & public corruption in Manchester/Clay County,
Kentucky. On May 2, 2004, GOD CAME TO
TOWN, when over 3500 people in a town less than 2,000 people marched thru the
city (in a cold rain) saying ENOUGH.
Sixty-three Pastors repented at the rally that day & the rest is
history. THAT DAY CHANGED every aspect
of society in the region.
Later in 2008, the
Sentinel Group produced a two hour docu-drama called Appalachian Dawn. The Story of Manchester has been seen in
nearly every state and several nations around the world. Doug & Linda have been traveling on the
Hope for America Tour, working with church leaders, prayer groups, &
community leaders to bring transformation to other cities. Their heart is to see the Church united as
one in Christ. IF IT CAN HAPPEN IN
MANCHESTER, KY it can happen anywhere.
